Story Time

Narrating a story and describing events, characters helps the infant swim in imagination and understand concepts like cause and effect, morality, etc. Apart from developing language skills.
Story telling is a must everyday!

Playing with the kids daily
Play interactive games with your child, i.e., initiate games that involve more than one person to play. Take turns in playing. Let the child learn to wait for his turn right from the young age.
He would also learn sharing and joint attention.
Toys may also include interactive books with different colours, textures,
puppets etc in it. Keep your finger on the word and picture being talked
about

Treat ear infections completely
Young children are more prone to ear infections as a result of their frequent throat infections and if not treated completely, might result in hearing loss.
Most of the times, the hearing loss is mild and goes unnoticed.
However, it would have a tremendous effect on the auditory attention,
intelligibility of speech and can lead to language delays.

Exposure is the Key
Kids need to be exposed to different settings and different environments.
A field trip to the zoo, beach, park, aquarium, or fun fair would widen their
experiences and make them curious to learn.
A weekly excursion of different experiences will open up a new world for the child.

Follow the child
If the child is interested in anything, play more with it. For example, if she is interested in an apple, show more apples, green and red apples, draw and colour an apple, cut and taste one.
If it’s a boat, make new ones. This way, the child would acquire new skills
along the way. Talk more about the object of reference and give more
details. Let it be more informative.
Repeat what the child says and acknowledge/ correct it.
