Coordinated Therapy for the Critical First Years

The first six years of a child's life are a critical period for development. During this time, children build the foundations of how they communicate, play, learn, and connect with the people around them. When development follows a different path, early intervention can change the trajectory.

At Talking Brains Center, our women-led team of Lebanese therapists works with children from birth to six years across speech, occupational, behavioral, psychological, and educational therapy — in person at our Dubai clinic or online for families across the UAE.

Who We Help

We work with children across the early years — from feeding concerns in infancy to school-readiness in the preschool years.

0 – 12 months

Feeding difficulties, prematurity follow-up, early communication and motor milestones.

12 – 24 months

Late talkers, limited gestures, sensory reactions, social engagement concerns.

2 – 3 years

Vocabulary delays, two-word phrases, behavioral regulation, autism support.

4 – 6 years

School readiness, articulation, social skills, attention, fine motor for handwriting.

90% of brain development is complete by age 5 — the most powerful window for therapy

Why the First Six Years Matter

Between birth and age six, a child's brain forms more than one million neural connections every second. Therapy delivered in this window embeds quickly. The same therapy delivered later requires significantly more time and effort to produce a smaller change.

  • Neuroplasticity peaks in early childhood. The younger the child, the more responsive the brain is to therapy.
  • Language has a critical window. Children supported before age 3 often catch up to their peers.
  • Early autism intervention improves outcomes across communication, behavior, and adaptive skills.
  • Parent coaching multiplies impact — gains are larger and more durable when parents are part of the plan.

Signs Your Child May Benefit

Every child develops at their own pace, but certain patterns are worth investigating. The earlier a concern is assessed, the more options you have.

By 12 months

  • No babbling or pointing
  • No response to their name
  • No eye contact during play or feeding
  • Not sitting independently
  • No interest in social games
By 18 months

  • Fewer than six spoken words
  • Does not imitate sounds or gestures
  • Walks on tiptoes consistently
  • Strong reactions to sounds or textures
  • Not pointing to show interest
By 24 months

Language milestones

  • Fewer than 50 words, no two-word phrases
  • Loses skills previously had
  • Avoids other children

  • Repetitive movements that disrupt activities
By 3 years

Speech & behavior

  • Speech difficult for strangers to understand
  • Cannot follow two-step instructions
  • Limited pretend play
  • Frequent disproportionate meltdowns
  • Marked separation difficulty
By 4 – 6 years

School readiness

  • Pronunciation unclear outside the family
  • Difficulty making or keeping friends
  • Cannot hold a pencil age-appropriately
  • Struggles to focus for short periods
  • Anxiety about school or routines
If your child shows several of these signs, or if your instinct tells you something is off, book an assessment. A professional evaluation does not lead to a label. It leads to clarity.

Trilingual, Culturally Sensitive Care

Around 80% of the children we see grow up hearing two or more languages. Our Lebanese team is trained in a trilingual model — every therapist works fluently in Arabic, French, and English.

MYTH

Multilingualism causes language delay.

EVIDENCE

It doesn't. Dropping the home language often weakens family connection without improving outcomes. We work with your family's language reality, not against it — and train you to use the mother tongue at home with your child.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to what families ask us most before their first appointment.

At what age should I start early intervention?

As soon as you have a concern. There is no age too young to assess. Many of the children we support start receiving therapy between 18 months and 3 years, but we work with babies as young as a few months old — especially in cases of premature birth, feeding difficulties, or genetic conditions.

Does my child need a diagnosis before starting therapy?

No. We can begin therapy based on identified delays or skill gaps without a formal diagnosis. For some funding routes, insurance reimbursement, or school accommodations, a diagnosis may be required later — and our team can support that process if needed.

How long does early intervention last?

It varies. Some children need three to six months of focused support. Others benefit from one to three years of ongoing therapy. We review progress regularly and step down intensity as your child meets goals.

Can I attend my child's sessions?

Yes. For most therapies, especially with younger children, we encourage parent participation.

Is online early intervention effective?

For many goals — especially parent coaching, language stimulation, and behavioral strategies — yes. We offer hybrid models combining in-person and online sessions, which works well for families outside Dubai or with demanding schedules.

Do you provide reports for KHDA schools and nurseries?

Yes. We routinely provide formal assessment reports, progress updates, and IEP input formatted for KHDA-licensed schools and nurseries across Dubai and the UAE.

My child has already been diagnosed elsewhere. Can we still come to TBC?

Absolutely. We welcome second opinions and continuation of care. We will review previous reports and, where appropriate, avoid repeating assessments.

What languages do your therapists speak?

We provide sessions in Arabic, French, and English. Our team is Lebanese and trained in a trilingual education system, so all therapists work fluently across the three languages.

Are your therapists licensed?

Yes. All TBC therapists hold relevant qualifications and are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), in line with UAE healthcare regulations.

Does insurance cover early intervention?

Many UAE health insurance plans now include partial or full coverage for child therapy services. Coverage varies by provider and plan tier. We operate on a Pay and Claim basis and provide DHA-compliant invoices and reports for reimbursement.
